LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - New
details have been revealed concerning charges of a man who allegedly held Jefferson
County Sheriff's Officers at bay in the Clifton Heights area.
Around 9 a.m. Tuesday, deputies with the Jefferson County
Sheriff's office were attempting to serve an arrest warrant on James Dennis
Mayes at his apartment off Mt. Holly Avenue when he barricaded himself inside.
Lt. Col. Carl Yates, a JCSO spokesperson, said when deputies
arrived, a woman and two children came out of the apartment and said they
didn't believe Hayes was armed. At that point, Hayes, 32, refused to come
out. Shortly after 12:30 p.m. deputies forced entry into the apartment and
arrested Mayes without incident.
Wednesday an arrest report revealed
Mayes was wanted for kidnapping charges.
The report said Mayes got into a woman's
car without her knowledge at a gas station and threatened to kill her.
Mayes and the victim have a child
together.
The incident with Mayes and the
victims lasted a couple hours. The
victim was unharmed.
