CROTHERSVILLE, IN (WAVE) - A portion of Interstate 65 was shut down for six hours as Indiana State Police investigated a deadly crash.
Around 2 a.m. Friday, at mile marker 36, near Crothersville, a semi veered off northbound I-65 and into an embankment.
The driver of the semi, Lazaro A. Melendez , was killed in the crash.
"Due to the weather conditions, the icy snowy area, the driver lost control." Christopher Clancy with Indiana State Police explained, "We really encourage people, at this time of the year when we have the snow and ice, just take your time. Slow down. If the roads are snow covered and icy, take your time. Everybody wants to see their family and loved ones. Just make sure you get there safely."
Highway 31 was also shut down near Crothersville while accident reconstruction officers put together exactly what happened.
No other vehicles were involved and no other injuries were reported.
