Early morning fire damages Shively home

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - A family was not home when their house caught fire, suffering serious smoke and water damage.

Metrosafe received a 911 call around 1:45 a.m. of a fire in the 4000 block of Van Hoose Road in Shively, near Rockford Lane.

There were no injuries, and it took about 20 minutes to knock out the flames.

Neighbors reported a possible rescue because of a car in the driveway, but firefighters on the scene told WAVE 3 the family who lived in the home was away on vacation.

Firefighters located one of two dogs being kept in the backyard but could not immediately find the other.

The cause of the fire is not known. Arson investigators are investigating, which is standard procedure.
