LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - Santa's helpers come in many
forms on Christmas Eve, including traffic control outside Plehn's Bakery on
Shelbyville Road in St. Matthews.
Caden Jones volunteered to take on the job of organizing
cars in the small lot surrounding the business. Inside, customers described the
store as bedlam, but they wouldn't miss it.
"I got a lot of Danish for family. We live down in
Nashville, but we're from Louisville. We come up here every Christmas Eve and
pick up a bunch of Plehn's up and deliver it to family," said Steve Ridge
who's been coming to the store on the holiday since he was little.
One of the most popular items are the dinner rolls.
Customer William Kelley, who's been making the Christmas Eve trip for decades,
said he can't make it any other day. "We have to do it. The stuff has to
be fresh. We can't get it any earlier to make it worth the while."
Kelley said the company had 600 orders ready to hand out.
