LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – Louisville Metro Police are investigating a Christmas morning homicide.

The shooting happened just after midnight Tuesday when a man in his 20s was shot on the sidewalk on Portland Avenue at 24th Street, according to LMPD spokesperson Dwight Mitchell.

"When officers arrived, they found a body of a white male," Mitchell said. "He was transported to University Hospital where he was later pronounced dead."

Teresa Cook, who lives on Portland Avenue, said the man was riding his bike down Portland toward 25th Street.

"He was heading down that way," Cook said. "My son and him went to school together. He graduated two years after my son."

Police have not identified the victim, and they have no suspects in the case. Anyone with information about the crime should call the anonymous tip line at 502-574-LMPD.
