SALEM, IN (WAVE) - Moving out what the weather brought in has been an around the clock job.

Duane Hamilton, an independent snow plow driver, put in a nearly 15 hour day, "My day started about 4:00 am, we started pushing the snow and ice."

But Wednesday's snow wasn't the only concern in Salem. "Once the wind comes and you go over it ten minutes later you have to go over it again," explained Hamilton.

One car blanketed with snow was unable to move. When the snow was brushed away from the surface a layer of ice was revealed.

Drivers who were able to get out and drive tried to drive carefully and avoid accidents.
