PEWEE VALLEY, KY (WAVE) – The PeeWee Valley Veterinary Center held their first drive to supply "Blessings in a Box" to the military's Canine Corp deployed and working overseas.

The center was able to collect over $9,000 in monetary gifts along with 10 boxes filled with treats, ear and eye wash, goggles, toys and canine pharmaceuticals.

All of the items donated were sent to the four legged soldiers in Afghanistan.

Each box was worth about $600 and included Kevlar booties to protect the pads of the dogs paws and cooling coats to prevent overheating.

Veterinary centers from around the country called to find out about their drive.  They are now collecting funds to help bring the dogs home after their deployment.
