The Bengals took down the Baltimore Ravens 23-17 on Sunday at Paul Brown Stadium and later learned they will play the Houston Texans in the first round of the AFC playoffs.
After taking a three-point fourth quarter lead in front of a sell-out crowd, defensive end Carlos Dunlap intercepted a Tyrod Taylor pass at the Baltimore 14. Dunlap returned the interception for a touchdown putting the game virtually out of reach.
The Bengals finished the season with three straight wins and victories in seven of their final eight games, but haven't won a playoff game since 1990.
"We don't worry about what people are saying about us," said Pro Bowl wide receiver A.J. Green when asked about the playoff win drought. "A lot of people said we weren't going to make the playoffs this year. So, we don't listen to that stuff. All we can do and control is play our game."
The Texans lost Sunday at Indianapolis and with wins by both New England and Denver, knocked Houston from a first round bye to a first round home game with the Bengals.
Cincinnati lost last season 31-10 in Houston in the first round of the playoffs.
"Last year were were predicted to be 1-15 (record)," said offensive lineman Andrew Whitworth. "We went 9-7 and made the playoffs. This year, we were picked to make the playoffs and we did it. The next progression is to go win a playoff game. Anything short of that is not a good season."
The Bengals will take on the Texans Saturday at 4:30.
