The deadly crash happened Wednesday on Newburg Road near Buechel Bank Road.
A backseat passenger was killed in the crash.
LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – The driver of a car involved in a deadly single-vehicle crash on Wednesday has been charged with murder and DUI.
Police said Joshua Mendez lost control of the car and hit a tree on Newburg Road near Buechel Bank Road and Appliance Park.
A backseat passenger, Alfredo Zepeda Rodriguez, 24, died of multiple blunt force injuries, according to the Jefferson County Coroner's Office. Mendez and a second passenger were seriously injured in the crash. Mendez has since been released from a hospital and is lodged at Metro Corrections.
In addition to the murder and DUI charges, Mendez is charged with having no insurance, no registration and wanton endangerment.
