The home invasion happened at this mobile home in Marion County.
This is the door the gunman forced their way through.
The victim did not want to be identified.
The trailer is located in the Holy Cross Mobile Home Park in Loretto.
LORETTO, KY (WAVE) – A Marion County
woman says she will think twice about answering her door from now on after a New
Year's Day home invasion.
The incident happened on Holy Cross
Road in Loretto.
The victim said she was barely awake
when she answered her door around 5:30 a.m. She said she didn't hesitate
opening the door because one of the two men on the other side of it was wearing
a hat with the word "detective" on it.
"They knocked on my door and said they
needed help," said the victim, who did not want to be identified. She said the
two men forced open the door, pulled out a gun and beat her in the head with
"[They] started going back to my room,
told me they wanted pills, and I told them I had nothing by seizure medicine,"
said the victim. "They wanted my keys and my phone and my money. I told them I
didn't have any."
Police said the suspects were inside
the woman's home about 45 minutes and broke the neck of a kitten inside the
home. They also stole numerous items including credit cards and the electronics
the victim's son got for Christmas.
The victim said the suspects appeared
to be in their 20s and got away in an older model white car, possibly a Monte
