LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – A man is facing charges after being arrested on New Year's Eve for leaving his infant child alone in a cold pickup.
Around 2:30 p.m., officers said Ronald P. Hardesty ran into the Action Cards in the 8300 block of Preston Highway to sell a gift card, but left his nine-month-old son in the truck.
An undercover officer spotted the infant in the vehicle. Police said the truck was not running and the temperature outside was 37 degrees. After nine minutes, Hardesty exited the store and drove off. Police stopped his vehicle a few minutes later.
Hardesty, 30, is charged with endangering the welfare of a minor and wanton endangerment, along with other charges for improperly displaying his license plate and failure to have insurance.
