LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - There will be no formal celebration this afternoon to welcome home the Louisville Cardinals football team.
The school said fans can still greet some members of the team at 3:30 p.m. outside the Howard Schnellenberger Football Complex at Papa John's Cardinal Stadium, but there will be no interviews or formal program.
According to the school, a limited number of players and staff are returning to Louisville today. An athletic department spokesperson said coach Charlie Strong and quarterback Teddy Bridgewater, the game MVP, would be one of the players and staff not flying back to Louisville this afternoon.
The university also said at this time there is no celebration event planned for the Sugar Bowl champions.
