Evansville man facing Federal child porn charges

A Warrick County man now faces federal pornography charges. The charges follow his arrest earlier this month, accused of trespassing at his neighbor's home.

Police say 44-year-old Gregory Evans' neighbor gave him a key to look after her house while she was out-of-town. 14 News spoke with that neighbor Thursday night.

Tamara Wandel tells me she had known Evans for quite some time.

"We had known Greg and his wife for years and appreciated what we thought was his generosity and care," she said. "When my kids and I were headed to England for a semester so that I could teach abroad, he offered to help watch the house at that time."

Now, after Tamara returned home, an alarm system revealed Evans went inside her house when he wasn't supposed to. Officers looked around to see why and found something suspicious in the attic.

While checking to see if Evans had planted a hidden camera in the neighbor's home, authorities confirm they found images of young children being forced into sexual activity on Evans' computer. It's something Wandel says is just devastating.

"It's devastating and extraordinarily scary to know that he entered our home without our permission," Tamara said.

Now, Evans faces federal charges of child pornography. One count for receiving the material, and the other for owning it.
