Child molestation suspect escapes before sentencing

CHARLESTOWN, IN (WAVE) – Police are seeking leads on a southern Indiana woman accused of child molestation who escaped from home incarceration. 

According to Major Jason Broady, assistant chief of the Charlestown Police Department, Juanita Lanae Fisher was arrested in August 2011 on several charges, including child molestation, and had been on home incarceration since her release from the Clark County Jail in January 2012. 

Broady said Charlestown Police got a call from Fisher's roommate around 9 a.m. saying she had cut off her home incarceration bracelet, stolen a credit card from the roommate and fled. 

Fisher, 35, was scheduled to appear in court this morning to be sentenced after accepting a plea deal. Instead, Broady said Fisher will not face trial in February on the original charges. In addition, she is facing a new charge for the escape.
