LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – A woman was transferred to a hospital with life threatening injuries after a wreck involving a Jefferson County Public School Bus.

According to MetroSafe, bus number 0424 was involved in a crash at 4:21 p.m. Monday at Brownsboro Road at Drescher Bridge.

MetroSafe said emergency crews rescued a woman who was driving a white vehicle involved in the crash. According to Louisville Fire Department Captain Sal Melendez, she was transported to University of Louisville Hospital with life threatening injuries.

According to Ben Jackey with Jefferson County Public Schools, the bus was carrying 15 students and one driver from Chenoweth Elementary School.

Students who remained on the bus after the crash were either transferred to another bus or taken home by their parents.

Neighbors in the area expressed concern over the intersection and said the area tends to be dangerous for drivers due to recent lane changes.

Emergency officials on the scene said the bus did pull out in front of the white vehicle.
