Suspect pleads not guilty in Dakota Meyer assault

ADAIR COUNTY, KY (WAVE) - A not guilty plea was entered for a man charged with assaulting a Medal of Honor Recipient.

Monday, a judge in Adair County set a preliminary hearing for Kanissa'ai Thompson, 18.

Police said Thompson injured Dakota Meyer seriously enough that Meyer required medical treatment, including staples to close a gash on his head.

Thompson denies the allegations and claims it was a woman who hit Meyer during a party in December.

He is charged with second-degree assault.
