LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - For students hoping to get financial assistance for college, now is the time to fill out financial aid forms and Mayor Greg Fischer is working for the students in Metro Louisville.

Tuesday morning, dozens of students showed up at the KFC Yum! Center to create a human billboard spelling out 55K.

The Mayor hopes Louisville residents will hold 55,000 college degrees by 2020.

The Mayor said, "When we achieve that we'll be in the top tier of American cities with adults that have college degrees, that leads to innovation, entrepreneurship, more high paying jobs."

The Mayor is encouraging students to fill out their FAFSA forms for financial aid as soon as possible.

Students can receive up to $7,500.

The State money is given out on a first come first serve basis.
