JEFFERSONVILLE, IN (WAVE) - A new outreach program will make it easier for people living in Jeffersonville to get through to the city.

Jeffersonville Mayor Mike Moore is opening up the lines of communication with a program called  Mayor's Office of Community Outreach or MOCO.

The new office will link calls and emails with the appropriate city services.

"I want city government to reach out to everyone," said Moore who said no additional funding is necessary for the office. "This office will give citizens an avenue to voice their concerns and suggestions on improvements of city services. By working with residents and community organizations we will develop proactive methods to resolve community issues."

According to a press release, the primary functions of MOCO include:

  • Collaborating with citizens and community groups to provide information to residents on city services and to quickly address community issues and concerns
  • Interface with city departments to facilitate complaint resolution in a timely and efficient manner
  •  Develop community outreach projects and organize neighborhood meetings to enhance the lives of the citizens of Jeffersonville
