MUNCIE, IN (WAVE) - There is a new push to allow students in Indiana to carry guns on campus as many U.S. lawmakers are calling for stricter gun laws.
Damon Cox is fighting a battle he believes had already been fought and won until he came to Ball State University.
Cox is part of growing group of Indiana college students working for the right to carry guns on campus.
Cox, who has a valid Indiana license to carry a gun, can not do so on campus, a violation that many believe is guaranteed by the state and federal constititutions.
Cox explained, "I believe and many other students believe that we should have the right to defend ourselves by any means necessary in the event a tragedy occurs."
Some Indiana lawmakers agree. A law is now being proposed in Indianapolis that would allow students with a valid license to carry a handgun to do so.
