Jackknifed semi shuts down NB I-65 near fairgrounds

Numerous emergency crews responded to the scene.

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - A jackknifed semi leaking diesel fuel caused police to close all northbound lanes of Interstate-65 for several hours Sunday near the horse barns at the Kentucky Exposition Center. Traffic was backed up for miles.

A MetroSafe dispatcher said the accident happened around 11:25 Sunday morning. No injuries were reported.

The interstate remained shut down until 2 p.m. while crews spread sand on the road to keep vehicles from sliding. Police rerouted traffic onto the Watterson Expressway.
