Steel and sidewalk repairs will begin Monday morning on the Indiana side of the Clark Memorial Bridge.
The sidewalks are in such bad shape, pedestrians can see straight through them to the Ohio River.
Repairs will be made to the bridge's rusted steel.
Construction is scheduled to be completed by April 15.
JEFFERSONVILLE, IN (WAVE) – Drivers who use the Clark Memorial Bridge for their daily commute will want to start allowing extra time to get where they're going.
Steel and sidewalk repairs will begin Monday morning on the Indiana side of the bridge.
Construction on holes in the sidewalks and the bridge's old steel linings will begin on the southbound side of the bridge.
"What they're starting out with tomorrow, weather permitting, is that the two southbound lanes will be closed so motorists will be in what is normally the northbound lane," said Andrea Clifford with the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet. "They'll work on the southbound lanes for 30 days, then they'll switch, putting traffic in the southbound lanes to begin work northbound."
During construction, the speed limit will drop to 25 miles-per-hour
Construction is scheduled for completion by April 15.
