CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) -
A second University of Cincinnati student died after a house fire on New Year's Day in University Heights.
A statement was released Monday morning on a Facebook page for Ellen Garner:
It is with absolutely broken hearts that I tell you that the Garner family and their friends kissed Ellen's earthly body goodbye this morning. Heaven is now totally aglow with a new radiance that we will miss terribly while we remain here. Around the clock, around the world, we were all on our knees praying for a miracle. We remain convinced that miracles have occurred and will keep occurring in ways that are yet to be revealed.
The visitation is planned for Friday from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Ginghamsburg Church, Main Campus. The funeral service will also be held at the church, located at 6759 S. County Rd. 25A in Tipp City, Ohio. The burial will follow immediately after in Maple Hill Cemetery.
Another UC student, Chad Kohls, 21, died from the fire on Jan. 7.
Investigators say the cause of the fire was a space heater too close to bedding. Garner had been at University of Cincinnati Medical Center in critical condition since the fire occurred.
UC President Dr. Santa Ono tweeted Monday, "I am saddened by the loss of Ellen from our community. My thoughts are with her family/friends especially her sisters at Kappa Kappa Gamma."
