I was born in 1975 in Louisville, KY. I attended Assumption High School and graduated from Western Kentucky University with a degree in psychology. Shortly after graduation from WKU, I married the love of my life, Scott Panella, and we moved to a suburb of Chicago where Scott was pursing photojournalism. I was pursing getting back to Louisville, but my paycheck came in the way of social work.
In 2000 I got my wish, and we moved back to Louisville. I took a job as a Human Resource Generalist and settled into life in northeastern Louisville. Life was easy, so we decided to complicate things. In 2003, I left my job and got my real estate license. We intended for me to be a part-time realtor so that we could start a family. I quickly learned two things: one, there is no such thing as a part-time realtor, and two, nothing about me would ever be part-time. My friends say I have two speeds: fast-forward and off.
Our first son Dominic was born in 2004. He was such an easy baby. Working to sell homes with him in tow was really not a problem. Apparently, I made it look so easy that my husband left his job to get his real estate license and work beside me as "Team Panella." Some things are better in theory.
We quickly learned we worked well together if we didn't work on exactly the same thing. About the time we began to redefine our roles in our business, a company called Keller Williams came to town. Scott and I were intrigued. We knew we wanted to take our business to the next level but we just didn't know how. Once we got our footing with the Keller Williams models, I was asked to take the role as Team Leader, CEO. At the time we had 19 agents and needed to grow. Grow we did, in more ways than one. About the time our office had 60-plus realtors I delivered our second son Bennett in 2006. Team Panella nearly tripled it's sales.
Not being someone who idles well, we launched Keller Williams Louisville East. I hit the road with a clipboard to talk to already productive agents about employing the tactics that were working so well for us. The rest is history. In 2007 I opened the door of KWLE as Operating Partner with 40 realtors. Today we have 150-plus. Our intention is to grow the business to 300 realtors and hold the largest market share in the Greater Louisville Association of Realtors.
