I was born in Louisville, KY in April 1965, to Mary and Philip Masterson. I attended St. Agnes grade school, Assumption High School and the University of Louisville.
In 1985, I quit school without graduating to work in the family business, Masterson's Restaurant and Catering. In the late 80s, three of my brothers, Paul, Brian and Andrew, and I slowly began taking the helm of the business from our father and uncles. In 1994, we purchased the business from them and took full control. During this time we switched our area of focus to mainly catering and formally renamed the business Masterson's Catering. In 1998, we purchased the property and building at Third and Cardinal Boulevard, which had been a major presence in Old Louisville since 1938.
In 2003 we purchased Captain's Quarters Restaurant.
In 2010 we sold the building at Third and Cardinal, renovated a facility on Lexington Road and turned our focus entirely to catering and diversifying our operations into several concentrations of catering in the community.
Today, between all of our operations (Masterson's, Olmsted, Kindred and Captain's Quarters) we employ close to 300 people and produce an average of 5,000 meals a day.
We are committed to producing quality events and meal services for a fair price. I, along with my three partners, remain very "hands-on" with every event and take great pride in the product we offer. We are committed to our community and continually support local schools and charities with our time, talent and treasure.
