LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - An unlicensed daycare worker is considering a plea deal after being charged with repeatedly slapping an 18-month-old.

In court Tuesday, Tina Timberlake Whitaker maintained her plea of not guilty.

She was arrested January 7 after police said she admitted to hitting the child named Scarlett several times on December 21, causing severe bruising to the one-year-old girl's face, forehead and ears, according to an arrest report.

The girl's mother noticed the bruising and called police.

Details of the plea deal have not been released. She is scheduled to be back in court on February 7.
