JEFFERSONVILLE, IN (WAVE) - The last witness in the murder trial of the Jeffersonville man charges with murdering his estranged wife by stabbing her 57 times is expected to take the stand Wednesday morning.

A psychiatrist will be called by the court to testify whether Dale Bagshaw was legally insane when police say he killed Kelly Bagshaw.

Dale Bagshaw's attorney is using that as part of his defense. He also argues Bagshaw killed Kelly in sudden heat, which would fall under a manslaughter conviction, not murder.

Closing arguments are also expected Wednesday afternoon, after which the case will be handed over to the jury.

If convicted of murder, Dale Bagshaw faces up to 65 years in prison.
