Barth close to paying back stolen money

MCMAHAN, KY (WAVE) - The former McMahan fire chief who took more than $200,000 from a Louisville charity has nearly finished paying back the money he stole.

The U.S. Attorney's office said Paul Barth sold his home, putting more than $130,000 back toward the Crusade for Children. Another $66,000 from the sale will go in the Clerk's Registry account and could count as part of the restitution.

Part of Barth's sentence also included paying money back to the McMahan Fire Department.

Barth is serving a 41-month federal prison sentence.
