LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – One person has been killed in a crash late Thursday morning outside GE Appliance Park.
The crash happened at Fern Valley Road and Poplar Level Road around 11:55 a.m. According to Officer Carey Klain, a Louisville Metro Police spokesperson, a Nissan Sentra was heading east on Fern Valley and was making a left turn when it collided with a Jaguar heading west.
The Sentra was struck on its passenger side and came to rest in a field at the entrance of Appliance Park. The driver of the Sentra, a man believed to be in his early to mid 50s, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Klain said the Jaguar caught fire after the crash, but the fire was quickly extinguished. The driver of the Jaguar, a man in his 20s, was checked at the scene by Metro EMS and did not appear to be injured.
LMPD traffic investigators were taking to witnesses to the accident.
The names of those involved have not been released.
