Troopers seize crack cocaine, heroin on Ohio Turnpike in Ottawa Co.

GENOA, OH (Toledo News Now) -

A Pennsylvania man is facing felony drug charges after Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers seized 1 ounce of crack cocaine packaged for resale, 4 grams of heroin, a syringe and a Suboxone packet, worth a total of $5,000, during a traffic stop in Ottawa County Wednesday.

Troopers stopped a rented 2012 Chevy Impala with Texas registration, for an improper lane change violation on the Ohio Turnpike near milepost 75 at 9:27 a.m. Criminal indicators were observed and a Patrol drug-sniffing canine alerted to the vehicle. A probable cause search revealed the contraband.

Matthew Russick, 28, of New Castle, PA, was incarcerated in the Ottawa County Jail.

Russick has been charged with two counts of aggravated drug trafficking, in which one is a first-degree felony and the other is a fourth-degree felony. He has additionally been charged with possession of crack cocaine, which is a first-degree felony, and possession of heroin, which is a fourth-degree felony.

If convicted, Russick could face up to 21-and-a half years in prison, plus up to a $45,000 fine.
