FORT CAMPBELL, KY (WAVE) - A Fort Campbell soldier, killed in the line of duty in Afghanistan in 2010, has been awarded the Distinguished Service Cross - the nation's second highest military honor.
Staff Sergeant Eric Shaw, of Exeter, Maine, was killed while helping Afghan soldiers in a firefight with insurgents.
Shaw is credited with saving the Afghan soldiers' lives.
His widow and mother received the award in his honor during a ceremony Wednesday at Fort Campbell.
Shaw's three daughters, ages 7, 5 and 2, were also in attendance.
