VICTORIA, Australia (CNN) - Several homes are gone and thousands of acres charred amid a bushfire in Australia.

The fire started yesterday and grew to more than 61,000 acres.

At least one family had to be rescued from their home as the flames edged close to the property.

Several firefighters had to take shelter in their truck as the fire passed over them.

It is unknown what started the fire.
