Ohio's unemployment rate was 6.7 percent in December , down slightly from 6.8
percent in November, according to data released Friday morning by the Ohio
Department of Job and Family Services (ODJFS).
Ohio's nonfarm wage and salary
employment decreased 9,400 over the month from the revised 5,194,400 in November
to 5,185,000 in December.
The number of workers unemployed in Ohio in December was 388,000, down from
391,000 in November. The number of unemployed has decreased by 70,000 in the
past 12 months from 458,000. The December unemployment rate for Ohio was down
from 7.9 percent in December 2011.
The U.S. unemployment rate for December was 7.8 percent, unchanged from
November, and down from 8.5 percent in December 2011.
