The 911 call came in at 4:06 a.m. from The Park at Hurstbourne, an apartment complex near South Hurstbourne and Bardstown Road.
LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - More than a dozen people were displaced after an
early morning fire engulfed a Fern Creek apartment building on Saturday.
Firefighters believe the ignition source is inside a second-floor bedroom.
Firefighters said everyone escaped without injury.
The 911 call came in at 4:06 a.m. from The Park at Hurstbourne, an apartment
complex near South Hurstbourne and Bardstown Road. Residents in the unit where
the fire started were awakened by a smoke alarm Neighbors then went door to
door as other residents of the complex were evacuated.
At least eight apartments are a total loss, and 20 units were without
electricity most of Saturday morning because firefighters had to shut off
power.
Four departments responded to the three-alarm fire, including Fern Creek,
Jeffersontown, Buechel and Highview.
In August 2012, a fire started in an apartment building across the street on
Hames Trace.
