SEYMOUR, IN (WAVE) - A Jackson County man is facing charges for allegedly stabbing his brother Friday night.
The Jackson County Sheriff's Department arrested Robert Cross, 62, in the 7500 block of North US Highway 31 for attempted murder and criminal recklessness with a weapon in the stabbing of his brother Melvin Cross, 65.
The Schneck Medical Center called the Jackson County Sheriff's Department around 8:30 p.m. to report that Melvin Cross was brought into the emergency room with multiple stab wounds to the chest area. He was treated in the ER and then transported by air ambulance to an undisclosed Indianapolis hospital.
Josh Mcanelly lives a few houses down, he says the neighborhood is usually quiet and news of the stabbing is shocking. "It's still unsettling, it's pretty close to home, I got kids in here and it's just crazy," he says.
There was no word on his condition Saturday night. The incident is under investigation.
