LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - A memorial is being used as a new push for justice after a family and police are in the dark about who shot and killed a man.

According to Louisville Metro police, Ike Chivers Junior, 33. died from a single gunshot wound. Officers discovered his body in an alley after they were called to the 4400 block of West Market Street on January 20, 2005.

In the eight years that have passed, his family remembers the date of his death annually.

They are hoping for answers as to who shot Chivers and why.

Chivers sister, Juanita Green explained, "Especially for myself, I still think about it every single day. Every day I wake up and every night before I go to bed I'm just wishing and hoping that someone would at least open up if they know any information."

His family made a special memorial and put it in the alley where their loved one was killed back in 2005.

If you have any information on this case you are asked to call the Louisville Metro police anonymous tip line at (502) 574-LMPD.
