LOUISIVLLE, KY (WAVE) – Desserts First is a fundraiser where the finest restaurant chefs create original desserts using your favorite Girl Scout Cookies as the key ingredient. This event is open to the public for an evening with friends while sampling delicious one-of-a-kind desserts. The evening will also include hors d'oeuvres, silent auctions, and judging for the best dessert of the event. All funds raised from the event will go to the Girl Scouts of Kentuckiana.

Meg Pike from Home Cuisine shares the recipe for her dessert,
Girl Scout Fruit Tart
Girl Scout Shortbread Cookies – 2 sleeves
2 Tbsp. Sugar
¼ cup melted butter
Blend all ingredients in food processor until fine crumbs. Press into a tart pan. Bake at 350 degrees until brown. Watch so it doesn't burn. Remove and let cool.
Lemon Curd Filling
4 Egg Yolks
1 Cup Sugar
4 Lemons – Zested
½ Cup Fresh Lemon Juice
¼ Cup Butter Chilled
Mix the above ingredients and cook in double coiler whisking until thick. Remove and add chilled butter in small chunks, stirring until incorporated. Pour into prepared cookie crust.
Any fresh fruits – piled on top (blueberries and raspberries were used for tart on show)
Apricot preserved (for light fruit) or Current jelly (for dark fruits). Heat in microwave until melted. Brush over fruit.
