FRANKLIN, TN (WSMV-AP) -
The city of Franklin wants to hear from residents Monday about a new ordinance that would keep street vendors from selling newspapers.
The ordinance that the Franklin city leaders are considering would prevent vendors with the Contributor newspaper from selling in the city, but it would also affect nonprofits and charity fundraisers from doing the same.
The Franklin Board of Mayor and Aldermen are taking public comment at a meeting starting at 7 p.m. at City Hall.
In just five years, the Contributor staff said in November that the paper has grown into the highest-distributing street paper in North America, while providing income to the homeless vendors who sell the paper.
