NC WEATHER: Storms possible Saturday afternoon

Updated:
RALEIGH, N.C. -

After three 90 degree days in the Triangle, a break in the heat is expected this weekend.

Expect to see more clouds than sunshine around on this Saturday along with the chance for scattered showers and storms this afternoon.  This unsettled weather will develop close to noon and continue throughout the afternoon and early evening hours.  Highs will be close to seasonal, topping out in the mid to upper 80s in the Triangle and near 90 across the Sandhills.

Tonight, as the unsettled weather tapers off early, the clouds will continue as temperatures fall into the upper 60s.

Sunday, clouds will give way to some sun as high pressure will build in from the northeast bringing in cooler air.  So, with clearing skies look for highs around 83 on Sunday. There is a small chance of rain Sunday, mainly south of the Triangle.

The first day of school for many, Monday, will see humidity drop even more with mostly sunny to partly cloudy skies and a high of 83.  Morning temperatures Monday will be comfortable too, starting around 62.

Tuesday and Wednesday will be mostly sunny with highs in the lower to middle 80s as high pressure will continue to dominate along with low humidity.  Overnight lows will stay in the mid 60s.

Thursday we'll see the chance for a few showers and storms return as highs climb into the upper 80s.
