INDIANAPOLIS (WAVE) - Hoosiers will get a ten percent state income tax break if new Governor Mike Pence gets his way.

In his first State of the State address Pence said a tax cut will especially help many Indiana businesses and farmers getting hit by higher rates from Washington.

Pence also praised the Indiana's voucher system that has allowed 9,000 students go to the public or private school of their families choice. He pointed out improving scores for hundreds of Indiana schools and wants money set aside for rewarding excellence in the classroom.

Pence said the State can afford tax cuts because of its budget surplus and because those cuts will generate more business and future tax revenue.
