Man tries to steal using popcorn machine box

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - A man attempted to use a popcorn machine box to rip off an electronics store, according to police.

Officers arrested Christopher Melson on January 19.

Police said Melson had gone into a Best Buy on Outer Loop and opened a popcorn machine box. He then took the contents of the box out and placed several high priced tablets and cameras inside of the box.

After he was finished Melson had a friend go inside the store and attempt to purchase the box he loaded.

He is charged with theft by unlawful taking.
