LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – A deadly crash brought traffic to a stop during the latter part of the morning rush hour on Interstate 264 in west Louisville.

The crash in the westbound lanes between Broadway and 34th Street was reported around 8:15 a.m. According to Louisville Metro Police spokesperson Dwight Mitchell, the car involved hit the center wall and rolled over.

Mitchell said the driver may have been changing lanes at the time of the accident, but overcorrected after seeing traffic in the adjacent lane.

The driver, reported to be in his 50s, was ejected. He was taken to University Hospital where he was pronounced dead. Police are not sure if the driver was wearing a seatbelt.

His name has not been released.

I-264, also known as the Georgia Davis Powers Expressway, has been reopened to traffic.
