LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - Mayor Greg Fischer delivered his third "State of the City" address Thursday.

The mayor traditionally holds his address at the Galt House, but for the first time, the event was held at the African American Heritage Center, fulfilling his pledge to move the address to different areas of the city.

The mayor talked mainly about jobs and economic development, highlighting the fact 22,000 jobs have been added in the past two years.

"We are poised, we're primed, our momentum is fantastic," said Fischer. His resounding message: "We are certainly changing the direction of our city." Fischer said that new perspectives are replacing old ways of doing business in Louisville.

One resident, Eddie Davis, said the mayor did not discuss economic development enough, concerning certain areas of the city, "I just don't see enough emphasis on the west side of town, like bringing in manufacturing jobs or light industry."

Fischer touched on a variety of other topics including the prospect of an NBA team, curbing violent crimes and gun control, a one-cent sales tax increase and a 25-year Vision Louisville initiative.
