WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP, OH (Toledo News Now) -

Around 6:45 a.m. Friday, the Hancock County Sheriff's Office received a call of an injury crash that occurred on Township Road 243 just south of Township Road 218 in Washington Township.

After investigating, the office learned Oscar Pichardo, 38, of Fostoria, was driving his van south on TR 243 when he lost control. Deputies say Pichardo drove off the road, struck a ditch and went airborne, crashing into a small group of trees. Pichardo was ejected from the vehicle, which then rolled over and landed upright in a field.

Pichardo was treated at the scene by EMS until Life Flight could arrive. He was then transported to a Toledo hospital where he was later pronounced dead from injuries sustained in the accident.

The crash still remains under investigation.
