LOUISIVLLE, KY (WAVE) - A plea deal in the works for the owner of aformer daycare.
Heavenly Angels daycare owner Lavonia Lewars is charged with fraud after she allegedly taking more than $300,000 meant to help low-income families pay for childcare.
Lewars shut down all of her daycare locations after a wreck involving her daycare killed an employee and injured several children.
No details about the deal have been released at this time.
"There are two C felonies they could carry five to ten each," said prosecutor John Balenovich. "We need time to sit down and write out the plea it's going to be an extensive plea we have an agreement in principal we need to flush it out."
Lewars will be back in court February 26th at 9:30 a.m.
