JEFFERSONVILLE, IN (WAVE) – Sentencing was held Monday for a man who took a plea deal in a road rage beating case.
Because his charges were dropped to misdemeanors, Michael Shelby was given three years probation and ordered to pay $100,000 in restitution.
Investigators say in November 2010, a couple drove down 10th Street in Jeffersonville when they ran into some car trouble.
They were going well under the speed limit when Shelby and a juvenile pulled up beside the couple and started screaming at them. When the couple pulled off the street, Shelby and the juvenile followed.
When the man inside the car got out to talk to the juvenile police said Shelby beat him. The victim lost several teeth, suffered severe head injuries and broke his nose.
If Shelby gets into trouble while on probation he could do jail time.
