CAMPBELLSVILLE, KY (WAVE) - From behind bars in Taylor County, the mother accused of killing her own baby defends her actions on the day of his death.

Brianna Brucker is accused of killing her three-month-old son. Initially, the baby's death in July 2012 was ruled accidental. But after a six month investigation police say Brucker's husband, Dale Brucker, hit the baby so hard he caused internal injuries.

Brucker said it happened when Dale Brucker went into a rage.

"I couldn't go in there," said Brucker. "I had nothing to protect myself or protect my other kids that was in there."

The baby died two days later.

Brucker said she is innocent because she didn't hit the baby. However, prosecutors say Brucker is guilty because she didn't call 911 until after the little boy died.
