LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - A Louisville man has been charged with cashing in checks that were stolen from a church.

The Kingdom of God Tabernacle off Manslick Road was broken into on December 18. Bryan Franklin was arrested around 4:30 a.m. Tuesday. Police say he made the checks out to himself using his real name.

"It's just sad that they don't know Christ, because if you knew him and were connected to him you wouldn't do that," said church member Susan McBride.

Detectives say Franklin cashed two stolen checks for a total of $800. According to an arrest warrant, the checks were made out to Franklin and were cashed the same day at BB&T Bank at 2501 W. Broadway.

Franklin's signature was on the back of both checks and he was seen cashing them on bank surveillance cameras.

Franklin was charged with two counts of second-degree possession of a forged instrument and theft by deception.
