LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - The thought of getting an emergency kit ready for when severe weather looms tends to happen right before the weather hits, but throwing one together in your down time can help you during a disaster.
Julie Krizen with the American Red Cross made suggestions of items to keep in an emergency kit, "In your kit you should have supplies like a First Aid kit, a flashlight, extra batteries, food, water. If something severe does hit, you need those supplies that you can get readily available so that you can take care of yourself and your family should the storm hit and it be bad."
The Red Cross also said to keep your cellphone charged, in case of an emergency.
