Early morning storms spawn three tornadoes

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – The line of storms that moved across WAVE Country was responsible for three tornadoes early Wednesday.

The first twister was an EF-0 that touched down along Highway 111 near Elizabeth, Indiana. A NWS survey team said the storm had winds of 65 to 85 MPH. The tornado damaged a few small building and a barn.

The second twister hit in Marion County, Kentucky, about 7.6 miles southwest of Bradfordsville. That storm was also rated EF-0 with winds of 80 to 85 MPH. It left a path of damaged 100 yards long and 50 yards wide.

Two people were suffered minor injuries when their mobile home was destroyed as the storm passed along Calvary Road. A small shed was shifted off its foundation.

The third twister was the strongest in the viewing area. It touched down in Orange County, Indiana just over three miles north of West Baden Springs.

That tornado was rated an EF-1 with winds of 85 to 95 miles per hour. A NWS survey team said the storm was on the ground for 400 yards and was 75 yards wide.

The twister topped several trees in a nearby forest and damaged the roof and porch of a home nearby.

No injuries were reported from the storm.
