LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – Customers who showed up for lunch or dinner at a longtime Louisville restaurant found a surprising sign instead of open doors.
John E's, located on Bardstown Road near the Buechel Bypass, has abruptly closed. The only notice of the closure was signs taped to the front doors saying, "Gone out of business."
News of the closure came as a surprise to many longtime customers, like Brennan Latkovski.
"I was here yesterday and I had no idea," said Latkovski, "and I'm sad they're gone. I really enjoyed coming here. I used to come here when I was younger with my family on Thursday nights for their fried chicken. I enjoyed coming here."
There is no word about why the restaurant shut down. WAVE 3 tried to contact the owner, but was unable to reach him.
